Each entry describes one body of research: the question, the data, the reported result, and the constraints the authors placed on their own conclusions.
A large administrative dataset described participation as brief and episodic for most accounts. Its authors also listed, in plain terms, what the records cannot show.
Brooke Erin Duffy's interviews with social media producers named a category of activity performed before, and often instead of, compensation. The sample was small and she said so.
Across six years of marketplace records the share of perfect ratings rose from a third to more than four in five. The researchers argue the change was not improvement.
Editorial standards
Every factual claim on this site traces to a published study with named authors and a locatable title. Where the evidence is contested or the estimate is disputed, that is stated in the same paragraph as the finding, not in a footnote.
Research summaries here carry the methodological constraints the original authors listed: sample coverage, selection, the period studied, and what the data structure cannot distinguish. A finding without its limits is not a finding.
Articles describe research populations and study designs. No page on this site presumes any situation, condition, intention or circumstance on the part of a visitor, and no headline is written as a question about a visitor's life.
Platform Notes does not publish testimonials, customer reviews, success stories, case studies of named individuals, or before-and-after accounts, in any section of the site. It also does not solicit them.

The site does not require an account and does not host comment forms. Server logs, any analytics in use, and correspondence sent to the support address are described in the Privacy Policy, together with the legal bases, retention periods and the rights available under the LGPD and the GDPR.

Platform Notes is reachable at one address, in writing, in English or Portuguese. Replies are sent within two business days, Monday to Friday, 09:00–18:00 Brasília time. There is no telephone line and no physical office open to visitors.
